Ethanol; a renewable, efficient and eco-efficient fuel

Fuel ethanol

We manufacture and sell fuel-grade ethanol to petroleum retailers. This ethanol is blended with petroleum (usually at 10%) and sold at the bowser as what’s called E10.

Ethanol vs Petroleum

Ethanol has a number of benefits over petroleum: it's renewable; it’s cleaner burning; and one litre of Sucrogen’s bioethanol has less than 50% of the emissions of a litre of petrol*. But not all ethanols are equal, or equally good. It’s important to note that our sugar/molasses-based ethanol is a sustainable resource. So unlike corn and grain, it contains no protein, fat or vitamins – and poses no threat to food staple production.

The new performance fuel

Ethanol is emerging as one of the world's new performance fuels. In 2009, the V8 Supercars - Australia’s peak motorsport series - recognised its benefits. It changed to E85, an 85% ethanol blend, as a control fuel for all races including the iconic Bathurst 1000 competition. Holden is following suit with its iconic Commodore.
