Mark Day is leading a team tasked with developing exciting new sugar projects for Wilmar International Limited in Indonesia. This will involve establishing local sugar industries, which include sugarcane plantations, designing and constructing sugar mills to crush the cane and other infrastructure, like storage and port facilities. He is based in Jakarta.
Mark has been in Sucrogen’s milling business for more than 30 years. He joined Sucrogen (then CSR) as a graduate in 1980 and has experienced all aspects of sugar milling operations. He also spent time in the sugar industry in Thailand.
His most recent position with Sucrogen was as Executive General Manager of Cane Products from 2005 to 2011.
It is because of his extensive knowledge of the sugar industry that he has been appointed to this new role with Wilmar, reporting to Wilmar's Head of Indonesia, Mr Hendri Saksti.
