David Burgess
General Manager, Marketing
David took up the role of General Manager, Marketing in December 2009, managing the key interfaces between Sucrogen and the market.
David runs the program that allows our cane grower suppliers to forward-price their product via a direct link to the New York raw sugar futures market. He contributes to our raw sugar price risk management and acts as the key interface with Queensland Sugar Limited, the industry-owned sugar export marketing company. David also has responsibility for molasses marketing.
David joined Sucrogen (formerly CSR Sugar) in 1988 to initially focus on the export marketing of raw sugar to the key markets of Japan and Korea, as well as developing markets in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
More recently, in addition to ethanol export marketing, David has run Australian Molasses Trading Pty Ltd, a private joint venture that Sucrogen manages on behalf of seven sugar milling companies, exporting molasses to markets such as New Zealand, USA and Korea.
David has a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney and a Masters in Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of NSW.
